Why Hosted Video?
Hosted video is an ideal solution for small offices, remote locations, or critical camera deployments. Video is stored off-site in a secure facility This eliminates the need to maintain a video storage server. Further, the video can't be downloaded by anyone with a USB stick.
Hosted video frees you from the physical restrictions often accompanied by server installations.
Can't I just do this myself?
Absolutely. But to do this you need a recording server, a web server, firewall permissions, and someone to manage it. What do you do when your server breaks - how long are you down waiting for repair?
How do you accommodate smartphone access? These are just some of the issues you'll be faced with if you go it alone.
Where is this typically deployed? How many cameras can I have using this?
Hosted video has been deployed in single camera installations to national retail establishments. Some solutions use a hosted camera to watch critical assets such as a money room, and use a tradition server for the other cameras. Other deployments use hosted video for all of the cameras. A good rule-of-thumb for hosted camera density is foru to 10 cameras.
